Abstract

The main focus of the study is to solve the location identification problem of a retailer. In planning a new retail store location, the analysis impact of location factors like labour cost, rent, availability of skilled labour and store location, population density and competition is essential. Store Location is a significant factor which decides the success or failure of a retail business. This paper presents a structured framework with subjective and objective factors for guiding the retailers in making the decision on the proper retail store location. Based on this, a framework using multi  criteria decision model was developed to provide a way for the retailers to have a more comprehensive approach to the retail store location decision. The process illustrates the way the system aids management in the retail store location decision through knowledge support. The primary objective of this paper is to adopt a suitable DSS framework to evaluate the critical factors that are beginning to contribute to successful managerial decisions.
