Abstract

The dawn of globalization and market dynamics have posed challenges upon organizations thereby making transformation inevitable. Capacity Building process has emerged as a prominent organization development tool in the last two decades. We formed a consortium of medium level organizations manufacturing automobile components to bring about  region wise development with regard to their HR function using HRCAP Score GRID a tool devised using the concept of Capacity Building. As a first step, the tool was applied to the training and development activity among the members of the consortium facilitating the organizations benchmark their practices with the others. This technique paved way for the  organizations to identify the areas where they lacked the capacity to perform and discover the practices adopted by the benchmarked organization. On identification of the benchmarked practices, members of the consortium planned systematic transformation in their organizations to incorporate the above practices. The above exercise, facilitated members  of the consortium upgrade their practices thereby bringing about performance enhancement at regional level. There is lot of scope in extending the above process to other activities of HR, other functions of the organization.
